Post by: denis on July 11, 2010, 07:04:43 PM
these were taken earlier this year at colonel sam smith park, with steve, and neil.was very cloudy,bu it worked to our advantage with good feather detail, and no harsh light.

These are gorgeous shots of the orioles, nice going Denis.

Jo-anne, they are everywhere..just listen for the bird that sounds like a robin on steroids LOL.

They are fast too, Denis you were lucky enough to have them sit long enough to get those, half of my oriole pics are blurry orange!

 Funny.

Irene and Denis ... every year, I see and hear one male Baltimore Oriole for a short time at Lake Aquitaine but didn't see him this year.  Usually see male Baltimore Orioles at Erindale Park and Rattray Marsh - unfortunately, have had zero time to visit those places so far this Summer.

Speaking of Robins, have been seeing SO many this year, including babies!  :)

The quality of pics is amazing. Was wondering what lens it is, and what distance?

on this particular shoot,we were fairly close.i used a canon 1-D mark 11,combined with a canon 500mm F/4,on a tripod with gimbal head.dont remember if i had a 1.4x extender on,or not.

Very nice shots Denis!

I particularly like the Orchard Oriole.  They're tough to get close to (at least in Toronto).

I really thought we might get a nest there this year, but I haven't seen any in the park since late May.

Amazing series Denis!
I've also checked out your other posts. I've had computer troubles and have been off-line for two weeks so rather than make multiple posts let me just say here that all of them are excellent but I'm kinda partial to this one.
