On a dog walk in my neighbourhood (Upper Beach) last night, I saw something I hadn't seen before. Very low over the trees (10m?) there was a mixed flock of about 4 CHSWs, 4 BASW and 4 dragonflies, all going after the same tiny insects which I couldn't see.
I see Chimney Swifts in the neighbourhood all the time, but haven't seen Barn Swallows right around here (I see them down by the lake, about 1 km away).

Several years ago I used to see mixed swallow flocks in the hundreds flying only feet from the ground in a park near my house. They didn't seem to care that I was there and they would catch mosquitoes only an arms length away from me. I do seem to recall dragonflies on scene. This only ever happened in mornings before 8 am.
