Title: Oriole and one more GB Heron

Both fabulous pictures, I'm curious about the plumage on the heron though, he has a lot more longer string like plumage in the front...then the heron I saw at humber bay...does it mean he is an older heron?

Irene, you may be correct regarding the correlation between age and plume length. I was at High Park today and snapped what I believed to be a juvie GBH. He had no plume strings at all. Also his neck feathers seemed short and unfluffy (if that's a word!) compared to this fellow.

That park really is great!
As for plumage, I'm no expert..I'm sure Google could help me here... but I tend to agree with the theory here.
I took a picture of this guy last year, He just SEEMED older to me.
His plumage is longer and really, really darker than any other GHB I've seen.

Here's a pic of what I believe to be a juvie. You can clearly see the difference in plumage between this one and the other two
