I'm trying to take Bernie's advice into consideration and giving the birds "room to go"...let me know what you all think :) I would appreciate it. (the second was a little hard to do- he ended up in the middle of my camera)
Thanks Irene

They look great! Good job!

Great Flight shot Irene

Thanks Cody and Vince, Sometimes I get excited and lose my focus and just shoot..without trying to centre or off-centre the birds. Its gonna take some practice and I can always move my bracketing cursor too (I learned that today as well whee) sometimes I don't have time to play with the features, the shot is there for the moment and I dont' want to "lose" that moment ..not sure that makes sense...

your comps are much better,irene
good job on these.
-
Great shots!
I know exactly what you mean about not wanting to 'lose' the moment.
-
I think these shots are lovely! Well composed, great light, color, etc. Very well done, I think...
-
Thanks for all the feed back, I appreciate it much, sometimes the moment is just right too I can't take all the credit for that, the birds were in the right places at the right times.
I was also amazed that the birds were not slightly even spooked by my being there, at one point I thought the heron was following me! It was quite funny.
once again thanks :)
ugh..its Monday..work beckons :(
have a great day!

Very nice - it can be hard to compose - the darn things look stationary in the photos!
Cheers,

Thank you Bernie! stationary> I wish..they were quite active on this day..I got a good work out walking..The heron flew over head and I followed..my short little legs can only walk so fast.. :)
the big test will be this weekend when I get out to get some photos and try them on the new computer (and aperture) I have been reading and learning and playing around with it and some old pictures.. :)
we will see how much my brain can retain LOL

Beautiful photos! :D
my short little legs can only walk so fast.. :)
 Irene ... This is truly one of the funniest things I've ever read here! Next time anyone tells me to hurry up, I'm going to use that line!

I agree Jo-Anne,
Irene,
Slow is not always a bad thing...you are the best Owl spotter I have birded with.
So if someone complains you are too slow, just show them all the photos you took that they never had a chance to take because they just walked RIGHT by EVERYTHING!!
BTW great photos, I see the BCNH is in his usual spot

LOL! thanks Meghan and Jo-Anne...ever just put your camera or bins down and just watch...just to enjoy the moment? I have missed some great photo ops just to watch a little sparrow take a sand bath..its the most amusing thing..sometimes a picture just can't express what you feel when you see something comical or amazing.. :)
One of my best moments was sitting on a rock watching 3 different species of hawks soar above my head...at the same time! ..Meghan ..September is coming..soon and so are the migrating hawks..I am anxious and excited for this time and its the best time to see them.cuz they are hunting, hungry and on the move ...I'm thinking High Park hawk watch will be cool and the arsenal lands in mississauga MIGHT be something worth taking a peek at..its wide open field with some nice high trees...lots of little rodents too..
anyways..off to bed and dream of the raptors :)

Great series Irene, the BCNH is fantastic, great flight shot of the Egret too.
