Today at lunch I watched two American kestrels checking out last years nest. (side of building)
Male and female pair. Female slightly larger than male. They moved to a tree along the tracks adjacent Downsview park.
The male landed on the female but she did not comply and he moved to another branch.

Will keep an eye out for them.
Another note: a friend spotted a squadron of Robins in urban Mississauga/Meadowvale yesterday. They were feeding in a fruit tree in his yard.
(I thought the Robins were confined to the lakeshore this time of year):?:

There's been a lone robin, here in Whitchurch-Stouffville, for the last couple of days feeding on the apples that didn't fall. It was neat hearing that familiar "chirp" again.

Beautiful day today
At break this morning 9:30 am I spotted two kestrels again in the same location..
same result. One visited the old nest and then back to the tree beside the tracks, Downsview park..
