My sister and I went camping at Killbear Provincial Park from Sunday until Tuesday. Wildlife seen included:
1 Yellow Spotted Salamander
2 Eastern Red-Backed Salamanders which one was a Lead-Phased Eastern Red-Backed Salamander.
Black Capped Chickadees
Northern White Tailed Deer were a common sight for us.
1 large American Black Bear which was hanging around our campsite and across the road from our campsite for a very long time during the first night. This was my sister's first sighting of an American Black Bear in the wild.
I spotted some American Robins.
On the last day when our parents came to pick us up, my sister and mom spotted an Eastern Chipmunk.

My parents emigrated to Canada from Fiji in 1969. Shortly after they arrived, they made friends with a family that were kind enough to take us camping -- one of these early trips was to Killbear. On the first day there, both families, with the exception of my father went to the beach. On our return, Uncle Alex asked my father how his day was...my father replied that his day was fine except around noon 3 dogs wandered into camp and tried to get into our food...so he chased them away...Uncle Alex was a little puzzled but we set about making dinner followed by a campfire and marshmallows...after the fun was done, we all went to bed in the tent trailers...the dogs returned later that night and as my father began to exit the trailer, Uncle Alex grabbed him by the arm and said "Whoa Mal, those are bears not dogs !" My father, being from Fiji, had never seen bears before.

I usually get to Killbear for a short camping trip each summer. Bears and deer have been increasing noticeably over the past few years. We had both in the campground (Lighthouse) this year. I lost count, but I think we saw over 10 deer in one day.
