I was quite surprised today to find a large snapping turtle on the waterfront trail about 100 metres into Mississauga from the Toronto/Mississauga border. When I say on the trail, I do mean on the trail, not viewed from the trail. This was at the sharp 90 degree corner near the old concrete military training structure. It's not a location that appears to be very close to water, and it seams very unusual to find a large adult roaming on land at this time of year.
It was seen midday (12:30ish) and there was no sign of it a couple of hours later on my way back through the area.
