I don’t know what I was thinking. Despite the fact that weather was brutal today, I’ve decided to visit Tommy Thompson Park. It was a bad idea, very bad idea. In one hour time I was sitting comfortably back in my car. How come so fast? Thanks God I’ve got lift back to the parking lot by lovely lady patrolling this area with her car. According to her I missed American kestrel sitting on the post within 10 feet of me. After 10 minutes of fast walking in that kind of weather conditions, my eyes were full of tears. This is the point where my story supposed to finish for today but ….Yesterday Norm informed us of a Harlequin Duck presence in Humber Bay area. Should I miss opportunity like this?
HBP east was my second choice for today’s adventure. Usual suspects are hanging around. To my surprise Harlequin was in the same spot where I saw him last time. Beginners luck, there is no other explanation for it. Here are a few pictures from today.

:D Nice Job Marek, yeah I was out there also on Saturday and you know, I am starting to think that I am addicted to birds, cause other than going running in this weather (addicted that also) those are only two things that I will freeze for!
I live in Hamilton and have found some decent spots to go birding and photograph them.  I am new at this and I am  wondering if anybody uses blinds when shooting?

I don't use them yet, but in the future.... Who knows?

Hi Marek. Great photos. I tried once again Saturday morning to spot the elusive (to me) Harlequin Duck. When the sun was shining and the wind was calm, it wasn't all that bad but when the wind picked up it was bitter. Needless to say, I left disappointed but I did spot a lone photographer nicely nestled in the rocks overlooking the Toronto skyline. The large camo-covered lens attracted my attention. Would that have been you, by chance? If so, your patience paid off with some really nice snaps. I, of course, was the guy who looked like he was freezing to death.

I was there between 1:30 - 3:00. My lens is not covered.

West end of Toronto.  South from the Gardiner or Lakeshore or Queensway on Park Lawn Rd. (East of Royal York Rd.)
