This was a nice surprise for me as I have never seen the Eastern Bluebird, came accross about 6 flying around a patch of shrubby area in back of Pottery Road today...

Nice catch!

Very nice shots. I find the similarities to the barn swallows remarkable as well. Anyone else notice that the colorings are similar, for an unseasoned birder,(like me) one could make the mistake of dismissing this bird thinking it was a barn swallow at a quick glance.
good work Colin, once again I'm grateful for the more knowledgeable birders on this list. :)
Thanks for sharing this

hey,
i just got back in town and have been working a lot.
was told 3 weeks ago that, every october, the bluebirds spend 1-2 days at the Brickworks in the trees by the rear.
i suggest you take a visit to see if they're still there.
cool that you saw them.

Nice find - they are one of my favourites - always visit Carden Alvar in the spring to see them.
