Today at Rosetta McClain Gardens Raptor Watch,in addition to 182 migrating raptors(and a few locals including a Goshawk thats hunted the area for the past few days several times)we got a special treat. I was contacted by my good friends at the Canadian Peregrine Foundation(I volunteer there extensively) and asked if Id like to host a Peregrine release. Of course I was happy to. After some initial hesitation,he took flight and circled over Lake Ontario. Soon much to our delight a 2nd Peregrine joined him. They circled together and continued their journey. Just awesome. Here is a short video I put together. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LeKm806sDdU (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LeKm806sDdU) Enjoy

Congratulations Frank on a great day! I'm really sorry I missed all the action. I would have loved to have seen the second Peregrine hook up with the released bird and the pair fly off together.

I know it's a repeat but I certainly won't mind watching it again, tonight at 8pm on PBS, Nature - Raptor Force. Check your listings to be sure.

Nice to see.
Do you think the bird's hesitation to leave had anything to do with the crowd of people in front of the box?
-
Its possible, but I think more getting its bearings after being in the dark box plus just not realizing it was free to go. He honed in on something and that was it he was gone.

That's awsome Frank thanks for sharing wish I was there!
