Title: Belted Kingfisher and more at Lake Wabukayne - Nov. 1st
Post by: Bird Brain on November 01, 2010, 08:54:25 PM
Hi everyone.  I was walking around Lake Wabukayne this morning between 10-11:30am.  Sighted the following:

Belted Kingfisher (male) - flying around West end of lake, whirring away, diving for fish.  He then flew to top of fence about 9 feet away from where I was sitting at a picnic table, looked me in the eye, whirred very loudly then took off again, whirring and fishing.  Wow, it was thrilling getting to see this bird SO close up!   :D

Blue Jays x 2
Cardinals - lots
Chickadees - lots
Crows x 3
Juncos - lots
Mallards - lots
Mourning Doves - a few
Red-winged Blackbird (male) x 1
Red-breasted Nuthatches - lots
Sparrows - lots

No sign of any Cedar Waxwings today - bummer!   :(  Have they moved on already?
