Title: Hooded Mergansers - High Park!
Post by: dbellilo on November 03, 2010, 05:49:38 AM
Hello friends and foes,

I was delighted to find a pair of hooded mergansers swimming together in High Park's Lower Duck Pond. I've never seen these birds before, and it was a rare treat to find them on my favorite pond! They were quite far away, and at first I wasn't sure, but the photos have shown the birds to be hooded mergansers, unmistakable and lovely! Who knows if they'll stick around? In other news, there are at least 10 pair of Northern Shovelers on nearby Grenadier Pond. This was on Tuesday November 2 at 2 pm, by the way...

I hope all is well with the birdwatchers...
