Title: Fog
Post by: Cody on November 12, 2010, 10:42:15 PM
I'm not sure how other parts of Southern Ontario were, but Grimsby was absolutely covered in Fog today! There was a small clearing period for a few hours in the afternoon, but before that and after that were absolutely incredible! I took my dogs for a walk beside the Niagara Escarpment this evening, and it was hard to see the silouetes of the trees... that's how thick it was! Tonight between 8-1030 it has been pretty thick as well. Too bad it wouldn't stick around for a few daylight hours in the morning... would make for some nice photos  :D

Cody ... very thick fog here this morning right up to the windows!
Awesome walking in it, eh?   :D

Started clearing up around 12 noon then it was a sunny afternoon.  This evening was supposed to be foggy here but I'm looking out the window at fairly clear.

Saturday morning between 7:45-8:45am, sunny blue skies.  8:45am, could see very heavy fog rolling in from East to West along Lake Aquitaine.  Walked past Plowman's Park and couldn't see the field!  Could just barely see Juncos.  When looking behind, literally couldn't see where I had just walked!  Walked around Lake Wabukayne and the fog was SO thick, couldn't see the lake or any water, could barely see tips of trees.  Could hear Mallards quacking and Belted Kingfisher whirring but couldn't see them.  A funny experience and interesting identifying all birds by sound only. :D  Could see Chickadees and Cardinals.

Walking past Lake Aquitaine on way home, sighted a male Downy Woodpecker.  Fog so heavy today, had to constantly blink my eyes and it felt like walking into spider webs!  A lot of temperature fluctuation as well.  Felt a couple of wicked cold patches!

The fog finally lifted around 1pm.  Nice sun/cloud afternoon.

Interesting Bird Brain. The fog here would be similar to Lake Aquitaine if I had of been in the forest. I had to do the "Sound ID only" at Beamer once this year. It was only Flickers, Nuthatches and Red-bellied Woodpeckers though. Not many Cardinals up there.  Jordan Harbour can look really nice when it's foggy, espically near the Train bridge.

That location is beautiful.   8)   Looks neat too by Lake Ontario - makes La Grande Hermine appear to be a ghost ship in the fog!  I still remember how beautiful she was before being arsoned.

Yes I saw the fog as well

used to reside in San Fran
and when it came in there
it was heavy at times

and depressing
some days as well
