Title: Bluebirds Near Tillsonburg
Post by: Bill & Jaye on November 15, 2010, 11:05:02 AM
We have never had Bluebirds near the house before.  In the last week or so we have had a pair hanging around occasionally.
Today they are seen going in and out of a hollow gourd nest I put in a tree over a year ago.
We are very surprised that they have not gone south yet!
Does anyone know if they sometimes stick around for our winters?
If they do..any tips on keeping them safe?

.

They're still around here too......but the sightings are occasional at best.

Last year I did have a pair checking out the box in February.

Being closer to Lake Erie you should have a better chance of seeing any that decide to stay.....or at least later (or earlier) than most of us.

It would be pretty unusual for them to stay.  You might want to try feeding mealworms.
