Title: American Kestrels
Post by: skyviewer on November 25, 2010, 10:33:55 PM: I've seen numerous Kestrels over the past three weeks. More than the usual. Has anyone else noticed this. Most of them i have noticed on country roads in north Whitby. But i have also noticed one on lakeridge road just north of the 401 and another one north east of Thicksons woods on Wentworth Rd east of Thichsons Road where the marsh are is on the south side.

In reply to the Kestrel sighting - we saw one this week at Colonel Sam's. It was hunting in the south area, near the pole.

Last year, around the same time in November we saw a couple of Kestrels hunting and devouring mice on the rocks - near the pole.

Welcome to the group and its nice to hear that they are back at Sam Smith...last year I saw the male kestrel on a regular basis when I went out for walks, even on the coldest days!! He is awesome.
