Title: Mountsberg 12-05-2010
Post by: Misty01 on December 05, 2010, 06:04:57 PM
Hey everyone, a small group of us from this board went for a photo shoot with the raptors from Mountsberg.
It was great to put faces to names and really nice to meet all of you.
I wanted to share some of the photo's ... but I really had a hard time just picking out the ones for photo bucket ... narrowing it down from 200 to 30 ... I can't narrow it down anymore. lol
Usually I post 4 or 6 pics tops; so instead I'll post the link to my photobucket album if you are interested in seeing the birds we got a chance to visit with.

Hope everyone else was able to get the photo's they wanted and hopefully we'll have another group outting of some sort!
Crystal

PS: Big thank you to Megs who set everything up and found a date that would work for everyone!  :D

Yes, likewise for me, Angie and our friend Brian.  We all enjoyed the morning and meeting a few of the fine folk from this board.  I'm looking forward to doing this again, probably in the spring, when it's not quite so brisk out.  That wind was getting to me after some time and wearing my work shoes (steel toes) wasn't the best idea for a couple hours outside on such a day of below zero temps.

Nice stream of photos Crystal!

I took 325 shots and have an album on Facebook where I am trying to limit my # of photos per bird to 8.  Teddy I went crazy with because I just love that Owl, ever since getting to hold him in our personal Raptor Encounter back in September.

And also a big thank you to Meghan for organizing this.  See you all in our bird travels and maybe we'll organize something else in the new year.

This is one of my favorite shots from today; makes me feel pretty relaxed...

Hey Crystal - you got some great shots.  What an experience to see these birds at such close range.  I don't think I appreciated the Merlin while we were there - or maybe I was just too cold at that point - but looking back at the shots, he's one of my favourites.

Rob - nice shot of Teddy - a few of the group said he was a favourite.

Many thanks to Meghan for making all the arrangements and getting us set up this morning.  It was very nice to meet folks from the board and hopefully we'll run into each other out and about.  Next group trip - sometime in warmer weather :)

Rob I love the shot of "Teddy" he was def. more relaxed than me; I was shivering by the end of it should have worn more layers!!!  :D
Burrr, but it was nice that the sun was out and the snow didn't fall till we left  :D

Well, it was much better Sunday morning than this Monday morning.  Oh, and thanks to Moira for the hand warmers!  Hours later, at home in the backyard, they were still working in my glove.

I was wondering if anyone remembered the name of the Red Tailed Hawk we photographed?  I checked the Mountsberg website, and their Facebook page as well; but with no luck.  I know as soon I hear/read it, I will remember though.

She was quite a dark Hawk compared to what I normally see.  Maturity has something to do with it?

I think this a rufous morph Red-tailed Hawk, which occurs in the west.

Crystal...great shots. I hear you when you say it's hard just to pick a couple.
Rob... I believe the RTH's name was Takenya. Love the Teddy shot.
I agree with Richard that camera of your takes great photos.

To both of you and to the rest of you.
Rob, Angie, Crystal, Moria, Brian, Richard and Robin, Thanks to all of you for such a great (but bloody cold) day.
I hope everyone had a great time. I know I did.
I'm up for another outing. But I think it'll have to be in the Spring. My toes are still cold.
