Title: Red-bellied
Post by: JW Mills on December 09, 2010, 09:41:32 PM
There were some chickadees in the trees at the Lambton Woods/James Gardens border.
We put some peanuts down on a picnic table to bring them in and had this surprise visitor!

The last shot actually shows how this bird gets it's name.
Only a few times have I seen the red belly of a red bellied woodpecker.
Nice catch.

Very nice John - it's a lovely bird.  Have you seen the pileated?

Thanks everyone!

Great series, I seem to never see these guys even though I know they're around

It's a good sign!  I hope to get to Lambton soon - maybe on Christmas holidays.

I might/hope get to Lambton this week.  Christmas stuff keeps me busy and not going anywhere but out in the yard.
