Title: Witching hour
Post by: Napper on December 18, 2010, 09:12:13 PM
It is that time of year again!

keep an eye on the prices at Henry's now and how they change Dec 26 thru to  Jan 2, 2011

I picked up a  DSLR last year $ 350 off the MSRP.

The price went right back up on Jan 2.

I am planning on getting a second body, maybe a D90 at a decent price. When they first came out they were $1000 for the body.

With the introduction of the D7000, the lowest price for D90 on sale was $648.  Currently it is listed at:

http://www.downtowncamera.com/index.php ... t&Itemid=2 (http://www.downtowncamera.com/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage.tpl&product_id=1391&category_id=10&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=2)

With both D90 and D300S into the latter part of the production cycle, the price has been reduced significantly for the D90.  However, in shopping for this year end deal, one should exercise due diligence not be caught in the sales pitch of accompanying Extended Warranty and a long list of accessories.  Consumer Report has essentially declared that EW is generally unwarranted (pardon the pun). As an example, I know of someone who purchased a $350 P&S and was sold $250 of accessories.....

Good birding and photography.
