I am almost 25 and have been birding since I was about 10.... I went to my hometown of Sarnia for family Christmas. I looked out my mother's balcony window and saw my first ever Bald Eagle. It was a large first year female... I'm guessing a female because it was extra large. This was my first wild eagle ever seen. I have seen many hawk, falcon, and owl species but I guess Santa decided that for Xmas day he would send me a message through the eagle!.
Anyways it was flying and soaring westward towards the St.Clair river. The sighting was right at noon. It was about 6 kilometers inland over suburbs and shopping centres.... quite high in the sky.
:D

Congrats on the sighting, I have only seen Eagles in zoo's or at Raptor Centres, have not seen in the wild yet but I am always hopeful :)

And now you know what all the hype is about ! They really are breathtaking (in the wild)...I've seen a few and it NEVER gets old...and then there's the thrill of the unexpected sighting of a personal avian holy grail...for me it was the scarlet tanager. Congrats ! May you see many more.

Still remember my first... I felt like a kid again and still do when ever I get a look at one. An awesome bird that never grows old.
Congrats.
