Turned out to be a good day regardless of the low owl population this year on the island.
Boreal Owl: Tough spot to get a clean shot but you take what nature gives you without causing harm to the bird.

Snowy 1: Note the pale barring compared to the 2nd Owl.

WTG paul.
you,re right about the boreal beeing tough to spot.

Nice shots! I love the last one where the owls head is turned around 180° . As to the barring, it is heavier on females than males.
-
The boreal is very nice, especially because it is barely paying attention to you, in contrast to the typical wide-eyed, ready to fly any moment owl shots.

Nice shots!

Beautiful shots Paul. The Boreals were very high up in the trees on my visit - couldn't get a shot. I didn't see a Snowy :( Lots of hawks flying around.

I love the picture of the Boreal :)
