Title: The Big Move
Post by: Halton Hills on January 06, 2011, 11:26:00 AM
.

Molson-Coors will be installing 6 new tanks at their Brewery in Etobicoke.

These tanks are massive.........being 25 feet in diameter and up to 150 feet long.

The big challenge is to move them from the Port of Hamilton to Carlingview Drive.

It is a huge logistical nightmare involving hundreds of people......including several different Police Forces, Utility and Hydro companies, etc. etc.

The route may seem a little odd......but remember that these won't fit under any normal bridge.

Also, most overhead wires will need to be moved along with some traffic lights and poles.

The move will take 4 days to complete........starting tomorrow night (Friday)

It has be canceled and rescheduled 4 times already over the past few weeks........delayed due to weather and technical problems.

I will keep this thread updated if there are any changes.

Why do they have to be so careful? They produce swill at best...could it really make a negative impact?

I prefer Sleemans...

I'd say that's being pretty optimistic......  :)

But.....practice makes perfect.......they should be getting the hang of it

What a waste of resources, they should just turn them sideways and get a couple of big bikers to roll them! :)

Good series btw!

They did float them in........from Germany by ship.

Could not "land" them in Toronto.......Gardiner Expressway blocks any route from there.

You have to remember these loads are approx. 30 feet high.......the largest weighs in at a staggering 260,000 lbs (130 tons) with the truck.

Post by: Napper on January 11, 2011, 04:41:38 PM
Hey!

I was a little disappointed last night. The big beer cans hadn't turned the corner at Hwy 25 and Derry rd last night before  11:00 pm

I had to go to sleep.. This Morning Our GoGo bus had to detour from up to the 401 to 407 South to Derry rd.

It was around 5:30 am and the beasts were just turning the corner onto Trafalgar.

Tonight on the way home along Derry rd on the Bus. 6 Large beer cans were parked taking up the right lane just before the overpass on Trafalgar rd.

At least the neighbours got a few pics.

Neighbours also said that there was an Owl in our tree last night around 11:00 pm. Hmmm..

Napper:)

Looking at the interior of the vats...umm....raises an interesting philosophical question...would you panic if you were drowning in beer? And if drowned in beer, do malefactors go to heaven?
