Post by: dbellilo on January 17, 2011, 12:56:49 PM
Have any of you folks been to Lasalle Park in the past week or so? If so, which sort of waterbirds are hanging around there now?
Many thanks for any information yo might have...
All the best,
David B.

I was there on friday and the bay is almost totally frozen.
But there was a nice male Northern pintail with the mallards and black ducks being fed
Also Trumpeter, Mute and a couple Tundra swans
Had american coots also and for land birds carolina wren, brown creeper and chickadees
The Ruddy ducks and Canvasbacks that were here a week before have moved out because of
the frozen bay, are now found at the bottom of brant street at the east end of Spencer smith park
Have photo of the Pintail at http://www.flickr.com/photos/andrew-don/

When I was at LaSalle Park I only had a few Bufflehead and the Northern Pintail (mentioned above).
