We dropped into the levee at Edward Gardens Saturday afternoon and there were two pileated woodpeckers in the trees south of the main parking lot. You can see the results of their 'handiwork' in the trees close to the path leading down to the footbridge. Naturally I didn't have my DSLR with me but I met a photographer who showed me a few shots of them taken earlier that afternoon.

Thanks for the report. I spent hours on Sunday tromping from Mount Pleasant Cemetery to the Brickworks via the Balfour and Moore Park ravines. A Pileated Woodpecker sighting was my goal but I was unsuccessful. I'll try Edward's Gardens next.
