I was very surprised to bump into this guy today.
I spotted him as he flew up from the ground and landed in a tree.
I watched (from a distance) as it was attempting to hunt.

It swooped down in front of me and found its lunch. It then carried it (a vole, i believe) to a tree and hung out for a bit. i moved off to let it be. The owl eventually flew away and disappeared into an evergreen to have its lunch. fresh vole! yum!

The talons were the first thing I noticed when I was editing e pictures. I was wondering how something so sweet looking could be a carnivore
