We're thinking of a trip down around Family Day, and would like to know if the area is all frozen up? The recent OFO reports seem to indicate so.
-
A guy on another site I'm on advises that the bay is completely frozen over, with not many ducks except for out on the lake.
-
I was down there today, and it is completely frozen. Only Waterfowl was Mallards, CG, and a few trumpeters. Better to look at Spencer Smith park and along the lakeshore towards Toronto.
Other birds seen today were House Sparrows, one Fox Sparrow, and tons of Chickadees. I also heard a wren of some sort.

Thanks so much.
Does anyone know if the shipping channel under the lift-bridge is also frozen, or is that still open?
-
it is open and there is alot of ducks buttt there is construction so only part you can walk out on is towards the lake on the Burlington side.
I was there other day and there are lots of ducks right around at the end of the pier, hunkered down and waited and they came in close, had white-winged scoters within 10ft and long-tailed ducks and red-breasted mergansers, also 2 ruddy ducks.
If you go can park after the bridge and then walk back across the bridge and under on the path and then walk out to the lake
photo of scoter can be seen here http://www.flickr.com/photos/andrew-don/5396481224/
