Hi folks
This is from Col. Samuel Smith Park on Sunday...was delighted to have the friendly butcherbird land quite close to me. I watched him hunt for a while...you'll notice the blood on his pretty little face...
Best,
David B.

Look at him checking you out, he's in love!! :P
-
Look at those tail feathers! He needs to stop picking fights with the kestrel. :D Great photos.

That's right! I've heard about the kestrel/shrike wars at Colonel Sam, but have yet to have the lucky privilege of seeing it myself...some day soon, maybe...
-
I just want to see the Shrike. One day this February I hope.
Excellent shots!

Also known as the BUTCHERBIRD because of the way he impales his prey! He goes for insects and smaller birds! Gruesome but true; what a beautiful little bird...
-
Really nice angle on this one! Great shot.

Very Nice. I like those poses.

He's a good bird all right! Thanks for looking, folks...

Is this shrike at the park consistently? I would love to see one of these! What does it eat at this time of year?
