Title: Good Night for Owling
Post by: Napper on February 01, 2011, 08:47:42 PM
Hey!

Twas a night similar to this evening a few years back (2006) when I was able to spot an owl flying about the neighbourhood.

The lighting during a snow event is just right to catch a glimpse and then follow an Owl flying about. Otherwise they are pretty much invisible at

night. That night @ 11:00 pm it was a Long Eared Owl. The next day I posted my first thread here!

I am pretty sure my neighbours spotted a Northern Saw Whet Owl in my tree about two weeks ago. Their description  is a match.

They were in their yard waiting for the Molson/Coors transports.. Unfortunately I was sleeping.

I spotted/surprised a Saw Whet in the fall a couple of years back as I exited my back door with the lights on. It took one look at me

and took flight. I am sure it was thinking "Sc-aaa-ry man"  said like "Count Floyd"

Good Owling,  Stay safe on the roads.  Should be a fun commute
