Title: Return of the Waxwing
Post by: Napper on February 05, 2011, 02:52:40 PM
Hey

A group of twenty or so Cedar Waxwings were about today circling the houses on the street. I suspect I might find them down the street at the four

crab apple trees filled with berries.

I also noticed a large group of American goldfinches flying about.

Umm for weeks it has been pretty bleak around here in terms of birds.  (feeders are full no birds)

I love Waxwings.  And now with some better camera equipment, hope to get a nice shot of one this year.

They around again today.

A few minutes ago while I was outside something caused a large group of Doves to take flight. The Waxwings in the tree across the street(too far for images)

scattered then reformed and flew off..  An American Robin :)  appeared and followed the Waxwings.

I know Robins are around. I have not seen one in 2011 until today.

This morning we had 2 American Tree sparrows  :) under the feeders(another first for 2011, for me anyway).

Things are pretty quiet otherwise.

There are 4 American Robins on the front of a house across the street hiding from the wind. drinking meltwater from the roof.
