Duck Soup! LOL!! Great way to start the day, with a big laugh.
I think I'm going down there today.

One photo, seven species!

Interesting that there are so many Gadwall in your shot.  That's one species that was notably scarce when we were there in the morning. They really do move around.

I clearly see Greater Scaup, Redhead, Gadwall, Long-tailed Duck and Bufflehead. There also seems to be some Common Goldeneyes facing away from the camera at the back. Number 7 I cannot find.

I thought there were Lesser and Greater Scaup as well as a female  Mallard and of course an unidentified Gull.  Good catch on the Goldeneye. There were two males just out of the picture.

I can't find any bird I positively can identify as Lesser Scaup or female Mallard in the picture. The female dabbling ducks I can identify are all Gadwalls with white speculum.

I'm sure there is a lesser in there somewhere (there normally is at col. sam), but I can't see any obvious ones.

Hi there! I was at Colonel Sam also on Sat...the duck soup was extraordinary...many thousands of the fellows, and a great number of mute swans were there too. I was lucky enough to see the n. shrike, but only for a moment...Colonel Sam is one of those rare treats, and hopefully one of you good folks will one day explain to me what in the world goes on there during whimbrel season?
Many thanks for sharing...

The more I look the more I'm inclined to agree with you. Thanks

There's a female goldeneye in the upper right hand corner, facing away.  There's a female dabbler at the back edge about a third of the way from the left that I took to be a mallard.  It could be a Gadwall.  I didn't pick out any Lesser Scaup.

Sorry.  Didn't intend to create a controversy!
