Another Sam Smith trip with no Shrike sighting for me... but watching this Swan was pretty cool. Photographing over water is quite different.
They sure do make a lot of noise on take off.

For me, I seldom have ever seen a Swan in flight.

And the landing was much more graceful than the take off. A short flight across the shore, landing in front of me.

Egret ... my mom saw Black Swans last year while hiking at Forks of the Credit River.

Black Swans? What what what? I never even knew of such a thing.

The Australian Black Swan (introduced here obviously), which looks a lot like a black mute swan.
