Title: Merlin
Post by: Leslie Kinrys on February 16, 2011, 09:19:31 PM
Today, a Merlin was hanging around our neighbourhood (Bathurst/Sheppard area). There is a large Aspen that all the local birds like to sit in. It was up there watching the area and then flying off to hunt. Later in the day, I saw a Cooper's Hawk, sitting lower down in the same tree. On Monday, an immature Red-tailed Hawk was sitting at the top of that same tree. Nine Starlings were perched near by. The hawk flew out and scattered them. Then, it went back to its original perch. Raptors are facinating to watch.
