Female Red winged Black Bird, Leamington, Feb. 21, can spring be far away?

cool picture...I have not seen a horned lark yet. Here are some pics of a female RWBB I took last year....I'm not 100% sure, but I think the bird in your pic is too small to be a  female RWBB.

Definitely a red-wing, horned larks are bigger than you'd think. Nice sign of spring (although its a bit early, so this bird likely wintered somewhere in Ontario and has moved around recently.

Wow, just read on the ONTBIRDS site that someone had a male RWBB at their feeder today in Ajax!   :D

At first I thought she had too much red under her chin to be a RWBB, but there is nothing else that matches.
My Dad said the male was probably down south still, and sent the Mrs. to scout out the northland to see how cold it was!

after looking at it again, it does seem to be a female RWBB but....I wasn't expecting this early.
