Title: Colonel Sam Today-Horned Grebes and More
Post by: BC on February 24, 2011, 02:41:06 PM
I went looking for Horned Grebes and found two just off the north end of the west peninsula around noon. Two adult male White-winged Scoters were close to shore in the 'middle' bay. An adult Red-tailed Hawk was perched in a tree on the southeast point, standing out like a sore thumb.

A Northern Shrike was singing it's interesting mix of melodious burbles and harsh scolds. It was moving from treetop to treetop and was very vocal.
