Hi everyone. I was walking around Lake Aquitaine today between 11:30am-1:00pm. Sighted a Northern Pintail (male) at West end of lake, in open water below concrete dam - lots of Mallards and Canada Geese there as well.
Around the lake:
Blue Jays x 3
Crows x 2
House Sparrows - lots (dozens)
Red-breasted Nuthatch x 2
Walked around Maplewood Park afterwards between 1:00-3:00pm. Sighted the following:
Black-capped Chickadees x 3
Cardinal x 1 (female)
Crows - lots
Downy Woodpecker (male) x 3
House Sparrows - lots (hundreds)
Junco x 2
White-breasted Nuthatch x 1
Still no action with last year's Cooper's Hawk nest.
Heard very loud shrieking - sighted 4 large gulls flying by heading towards Lake Aquitaine. Unfortunately, couldn't get a good enough look at them to i.d.
Maplewood Park: East side of Glen Erin Dr., just North of Aquitaine Ave.
Lake Aquitaine: SE corner of Glen Erin Dr./Aquitaine Ave., behind the Meadowvale Community Centre.

Was at Maplewood around same time as you (2:45PM today) and spotted a Cooper's ! Only the one though. The nest is in tact. Will post picture later. Many Downey and WB Nuthatches.

Sue ... Wow, we just missed each other! At that time, I was probably half way between edge of woods and my building, feeding shelled peanuts to squirrels and talking to people. :D Looking forward to seeing your photos. Cool re: Cooper's - the only one I've been seeing is the male.
