Title: Alliston spring arrivals
Post by: peter monahan on March 17, 2011, 09:30:29 AM
Walking by the Nottawasaga River, just east of town, saw male Redwing Blackbirds, Robins and some late Juncos, as well as the usual plethora of Canada Geese.

Spotted a lone Turkey Vulture over the downtown two days ago and the resident Redtailed Hawks on Sharp's Hill are in evidence.  Also spotted what I'm fairly sure was a Killdeer flying over lasr week - March 10th or 11th.

No spring rarities, but one lives in hope.

Good birding    :D

I forgot to mention a couple of Common Mergansers and a Grackle, as well as bags of Starlings.  No swallows yet, though I've seen them earlier than this in previous years.
