Title: Many types of birds migrate to lot for commercial sale
Post by: Cardinal on March 20, 2011, 01:55:29 PM
Good afternoon,

There is a 5 acre lot up for sale. It has a huge willow tree and several other trees, some of which are middle aged trees. Birds migrate to this spot every spring. In the summer a wild purple plant and clover grows about hip deep. I have seen many types of birds come to this lot. A mother goose tries to breed here.

That this lot would be sold, ripped up and replaced with a concrete box will be a very sad day and a step toward less space for the life we share this planet with.

I do not have a lot number. Permit me to describe this location.

Eglington Ave and Dixie Rd in Mississauga, North of the Canadian Tire gas bar, but before the Boston Pizza/ Business Depot retail space. Take your brown bag lunch and park behind the Boston Pizza, particularly in summer, and you will know what I am trying to describe. If the bulldozers don't get there first.

If I could, I would buy this property and leave it for the bird migrations. I don't suppose anyone knows a bird-lover philanthropists?

Does anyone know how I would begin to ask to City of Mississauga to declare it a green space and to not cut down the trees?

Any thoughts and ideas would be gratfully recieved.

Hope for the birds & bees,

Adrienne

You could try to contact Credit Valley Conservation Authority and tell them about the property. If they can't use it they may know a nature trust or individuals that may be able to help.
