While driving out in the Sheffield area yesterday I came accross a couple of Horned Larks. I haven't been able to get good shots of these in 2 years.

great feather detail,exposure,sharpness,and catch light.

Thanks everyone for your comments. I put the female in there for comparison. I couldn't get as close to her so the shot's not too great.
I was pleased to get them. I've had difficulty in the past.

Really nice! I haven't been able to get close enough to them with the lens I got. Still great to watch with the naked eye.

Beautiful shots, especially of the male - what a great looking bird.

Thanks Irene, Rob & Moira. Rob, while I usd a long lens, I took them from the car at the side of the road.
-
Great catches of the male!

If you consider Oakville to be in the Toronto area, there were some (at least 6) at this location today: http://goo.gl/maps/bwNA (http://goo.gl/maps/bwNA)
For more info see the post under "Toronto Reports" titled "Lapland Longspurs etc at Burloak Drive, Oakville"

Close enough! Thanks, I'm busy tomorrow but maybe later this week I'll check it out. Are these birds migrating?
