(Heavily Cropped photo)
I took this today at Ressor Pond, Is this the way they are banding Geese???
At first I thought it was something he had picked up around his neck, but now
looking at it there appears to be numbers on it like a band of some sort.

If you can ever get a clear shot of the number, try reporting it (http://www.reportband.gov/ (http://www.reportband.gov/))! I've heard of goose neck bands before but I've never seen them.

I haven't seen one before either, I brought it in as far as I could but was unable to
make out the numbers, "too distorted" but it dose seem very uncomfortable for the bird

looks a bit tight!

Jean Iron went east to photograph the Snow Geese coming through near Lancaster. The last photo has a couple of neck-banded geese.

Yeah, I'm not in favor of that band either. I agree with Moira, it looks too tight and is probably constricting in some way. All for the convenience of the person(s) tracking this one.

I had one last year at reasors pond. Took the number and email it in. The goose was 10 years old and banded in James bay. I blieve they are no longer in use. Most are 10+. Email me if want the web site link.
