Title: leucistic robin
Post by: Howieh on April 23, 2011, 11:40:21 PM
We were out with friends who showed me a cellphone picture of what I am positive was a leucistic robin sitting in the middle of the street in front of their house. The bird had a completely white head and almost no white below it's neck. It looked exactly like a robin with a white head. Could it have been anything else but a leucistic robin? is this a rare find?

It is certainly unusual, in 40 years of birding I have seen 2 leucistic birds; a Scarlet Tanager at Point Pelee in 1975 and a Starling while standing on Hadrian's Wall near Carlisle in the UK in 1978.
