Title: Red-bellied woodpecker High Park

While watching all the wood ducks we enjoyed watching a Red-bellied woodpecker in High Park yesterday and today. [near the lower duck pond] My partner calls it the "misnomer woodpecker". does anyone know why it's named this when it has a tawny belly? Not a bird we see all that often. I've only spotted them in the Park at this time of year... are they migrants?

Also first belted kingfisher of the year for me on the ponds.
