Participated in one of the Rouge Park weekly 9:30am Wed guided walks today. Spotted a female wood duck sitting in a tree. Noticed 2 holes nearby were the wood duck was nesting. The bottom hole had a fair size egg sitting precariously near the edge. As we got closer there were 6-8 eggs on the ground below the nest and bits of down nesting material scattered about. Looks like something attacked the nest and dislodged the eggs out the bottom hole. All the eggs were eaten! No sign of the male but the female sat there watching us. Cheers Terry
