So after searching around for Warblers..(which I heard is quite productive this time of year) I basically came up empty handed.
No surprise to me, as this is my luck lately.
With my head hung down, and the rain beginning to match my mood, I started on my way back to my car.
Then who should I see, but my local friend who decided I could not leave the park empty handed.
He decided to land 15 feet away from me and allow me to take a few shots before he was scared off by another unsuspecting birder who couldn't figure out I was photographing something when I was kneeling down in some pretty think mud and aiming my camera into the forest.
Oh well, I usually can find this bird when I go to the area, so there is always next time.
But I am happy that I found something, even though it was not what I was wandering around in the rain looking for.

Neat! Boy, if Jo-Anne ever antagonizes this guy the RWBB's will seem rather gentle! :)

Great shots, same thing happen to me 2 weekends ago. I searched 3 parks and didn't find 1 warbler. Just as I approached the last tree, just before my car I was thinking to my self ...what if I were to look into this last small pine tree and saw a Saw-whet owl.......and as it happened..it wasn't a Saw-whet but a small Screen owl just waiting for his picture to be taken......sometimes the little surprises are better than what you were hoping for...

It's quality Megan ... not quantity :) I'd love to be able to see a Pileated! There weren't that many warblers at Thickson's when I went Saturday either.

 The male Pileated would be excavating the holes in my head from the male RWBB's.
Meg ... nice shots. I rarely get to see one of these gorgeous guys - always a thrilling sighting!

Nice shots!
Consolation Prize? Gimme a Pileated over a Warbler any day!

Pileateds are awesome! Five years of no sightings and we have run into the Jack Darling pair a number of times this year now... but I will never tire of that.

LOL I do tend to agree.
Thanks everyone.
I appreciate the comments and compliments from everyone.
Looks like we have some good weather about to shine down on us, so I hope to see some of you out there on my travels.
Enjoy the weather and the birds.
Good shooting to everyone!

Great shots Meg, even if you had to glare down the other birder :D Which I know you did!!! hehe
You should have taken a photo of the "opps, should I run" look, now that's a consolation prize...your pileated shots look top notch to me.
