Title: Ashbridges Bay - May 13
Post by: mr.sharp-photo on May 13, 2011, 09:01:33 AM
couldn't sleep, so I did some AM birding (from 7:30-9).

Not much going on, unless you love orioles. There are more orioles at AB than there were robins.

I spotted one female orchard oriole very briefly before she was chased away by other orioles. I may have spotted a male orchard oriole 6 inches off the ground on a low bush branch, but it flew before I could turn the corner to fully ID it.

spotted at least 1 rose-breasted grosbeak near the parking lot and heard a second calling.

saw 4-5 myrtle warblers. otherwise, zero warbler activity.
still some kinglet activity and some leftover winter water fowl.

a killdeer gave a flyby and some of the terns were hunting away on both sides of the park (inner bay and Lake Ontario side).

still lots of various sparrows.
