Post by: Will on May 14, 2011, 04:37:56 PM
In spite of the weather, it was a great day to be birding at Tommy Thompson Park , I was there from 7:00am-1:45pm today. I came up with 21 species of warblers, and a lot of other great first-year birds including one lifer :)
Some of the highlights were:
Northern Parula-10
Bay-breasted Warbler-11
Hooded Warbler-1 (female)
Canada Warbler-2
Cape-May Warbler-14
Tennessee Warbler-12
Orange-crowned Warbler-1
Lincoln's Sparrow-7
Northern Saw-Whet Owl-1 (lifer!)
Bobolink-7
Common Nighthawk-1
Willow Flycatcher-1

What a great warbler day that was!

I brought my kids out for the Bird Festival and we saw a bunch too, including a Blackburnian and a chestnut sided near the banding station, but man am I dissapointed we didn't look for any owls; I thought they were gone!

Great day for you, well done!
