Title: Ontario Trillium

I love to see these flowers when out for a walk in the nearby park. They really bring the forest alive. Most Trilliums are white but can be red and everything inbetween. The colour is determined by the type of soil they grow in.

I like trilliums too - didn't know that the soil determined the colour.  I was up in Carden on Friday and there were lots growing along the side of the road - especially when you turn left off Wylie Road at the end.

Nice shot.

Red trilliums are actually a different species entirely.   The pink ones you see are just white trilliums that have aged a little bit - unrelated to soil.   I have a few white trilliums in my backyard, and can see them age to pink before they wither.
