Title: Male Cooper's Hawk at Maplewood Park
Post by: Bird Brain on May 24, 2011, 05:25:46 PM
Hi everyone.  I was walking around Maplewood Park this afternoon between 2:30-4:00pm.  Sighted a male Cooper's Hawk sitting out in the open on a tree branch in SE corner of park.  Hadn't seen this guy for ages!

Also sighted:

Cardinal x 1 (male)
Crows x 2
Goldfinches - 1 male chasing 1 female
Red-breasted Nuthatches - lots
Robins - lots
White-throated Sparrows x 3

Maplewood Park:  East side of Glen Erin Dr., just North of Aquitaine Ave.

According to a local man, he heard the male Cooper's "making a racket" at 6:30am this morning.

I was at Maplewood Park this afternoon between 2:15-3:45 ... didn't see or hear the male hawk.
