Title: Bobolink at Downsview
Post by: Flyingbass on May 26, 2011, 03:52:53 PM
Today I saw my first Bobolink at Downsview, I spotted it from far away sitting on top of a grassy hill.  I climbed the hill and it allowed me to get within 15 ft of it!   Here are the other birds I saw today.

3 Baltimore Orioles
2 American Goldfinch
1 American Kestrel
2 Mourning Doves
2 Northern Mockingbirds
1 Eastern king bird
2 Northern Flickers
3 Brown headed Cowbirds

and a bunch of:

Killdeer (including a dead baby)
Spotted sandpipers
Red-Winged Black birds (I got dive bombed by a couple)
Barn Swallows
Tree Swallows
Chimney Swifts
American Robins
Savannah Sparrows
Song Sparrows

Let me know if you see anything else at Downsview!

Good for you. I saw my first two Bobolinks two weeks ago at Clareville. They were very striking birds to look at, and their song was magical. Worth going out of the way to see and hear.
