Title: white spotted sable moth
Post by: gary yankech on May 26, 2011, 07:32:23 PM
I found another cool insect in Rouge Park. I guess it's that time of the year again, all the bugs are coming out. This tiny little guy is quick and difficult to get a good shot of. After a brief chase, here it is on a dandelion stem.

Hmmm... I think this is what I saw when I said eight-spotted forester today, they look very similar

The eight-spotted forester has a straight black thorax and the orange is more prominent underneath.  They are very similar, but the striped body gives away that it is a white-spotted sable.

Did you photograph your sighting?
