Post by: Reg on June 09, 2011, 10:12:12 PM
I put an orange in my back yard to attract the Orioles, it worker very well, they go through an orange a day
But tonight when I came home and looked out my window I got a suprise, the orange was occupied by a strangers,
a pair of House Finches, I quickly grabed my camera and got this shot through the window before they left.

Nice series! We have oranges in the yard too, along with grape jelly for the Orioles but haven't seen anything but the two Oriole pairs that are around go at it, and the Starlings seem to enjoy the jelly.     :shock:

Thanks Angie;
My problem is that one of the squirrels has developed a taste for the orange
and we can't keep him away, he cleans it out every time we turn our back.
Funny it seems to be only the one, the others will just take a look and sniff
and leave, but not that one, he will stay and eat the whole thing.

A squirrel?! Really, that's hilarious!  :lol:
Man, I'm glad they haven't developed a taste for them in our yard. They're pretty spoiled on peanuts around here.

We also make sugar water for the Orioles too, and I find they are eating that and the grape jelly more lately then the oranges.

Looks and sounds like some nice activity in the yard Reg.  I hate to say it (because we have issues with a very large raccoon and our green bin), but that is one cute raccoon picture!
