Title: Great blue heron at Oakbank Pond
Post by: Howieh on June 18, 2011, 12:59:06 PM
If anyone is interested the GBH is back at his post on Oakbank Pond along with all the other 'residents' which include nesting red winged blackbirds, families of geese and mallards, gulls, swallows and lots of turtles. No sign of the wood ducks or kingfishers but I'm sure they will show before long. Oakbank Pond is located on Centre Street between Yonge and Bathurst.

Thanks for the report about the Great Blue at Oakbank Pond. I could not find it on Monday (June 20) - although I did spot a Giant Dragonfly with large dark-colored patches on its wings.

Where is the GBH's post in the pond?

He stands on the piece of driftwood visible to your left from the platform. I haven't seen the Kingfisher yet this year but when he does arrive he hangs out on the far side of the pond (almost in line with the GBH when viewed from the platform).
